Ministries

Do we have opportunity for you at CommUNITY Church!!

  • Adult Choir: Our choir does not subscribe to entertainment but leading the congregation in worship.  So, it is not the quality of your voice that qualifies you to participate, but the cleanliness of your heart!
  • Music: At CommUNITY Church we do not have a special "click" that provides the special music heard during our services!  If you have been blessed with a musical gift or talent AND your heart is pure before God, please see our Choir Director, Dinah Obenchain.  We would love to see your heart as you worship our Lord through music.
  • Salem Food Pantry and Children Feeding Children: We support these important community needs by providing volunteer assistance on location and monthly donations of food and financial support. You are invited to join our efforts in meeting needs in our community and making a difference!
  • Salem Clothes Closet: We support this local ministry through volunteer assistance on location and can always use more Christian help and influence!
  • Women's Mission Union: Our women meet once a month to discuss different mission/ministry opportunities.  Opportunities to make an impact and a difference in our community and world.  Current projects include: Sewing outfits for the Native American Children on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North Dakota, providing prayer and supply support to our mission team, providing staffing for the clothes closet and the food banks in our areas.  You are invited to join us and see if God is calling you to get involved!
  • Roanoke County/Salem Jail Ministry: Our Truth Seekers class, under the leadership and vision of Wayne Lovelace, supports this much needed ministry through prayer and weekly financial support.
  • Roanoke Valley Baptist Associational Mission Trip:  CommUNITY Church has sent missionaries for the past three years to the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North Dakota. Each year we have sent more missionaries and this year we sent 25.  Next year, 2009, our goal is to send 30 missionaries to this mission field, specifically to Fort Yates. Each year we staff the entire Fort Yates site providing: Book Net, Kitchen and Food, Construction, Bible Study, Recreation, Adult Crafts, Children's Crafts, Medical Services (RN and EMT), and Sports Camp.
  • Roanoke Valley Baptist Association: CommUNITY Church supports our local association financially and physically by monthly donations and physical ministry needs.
  • Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia: CommUNITY Church supports our state convention financially by monthly donations.
  • Southern Baptist Cooperative Program (SBC): CommUNITY Church supports our national convention, specifically the cooperative program financially by monthly donations.
